Early intervention

Early intervention for special children refers to a range of targeted services and support provided to infants and young children with developmental delays, disabilities, or atypical behaviors. The goal of early intervention is to address these challenges as early as possible, during the critical period of early childhood development, to promote optimal growth and functioning.

Early intervention occupational therapy is occupational therapy that occurs during the first three years of life. These early stages in a child's development are crucial, especially if a child is developmentally delayed, at risk of developing a disability, or are otherwise disabled. The mission of the Early Intervention Program is to identify and evaluate as early as possible those infants and toddlers whose healthy development is compromised and provide for appropriate intervention to improve child and family development.
